Walled Lake HS Student’s Artwork Displayed in U.S. Capitol
WASHINGTON – U.S. Representative Dave Trott (MI-11) welcomed Walled Lake High School student Nathan Adkins to the U.S. Capitol building where, as winner of Michigan’s 11th Congressional Art Competition, his artwork will be displayed for the upcoming year.
“Each year, I sponsor a district-wide high school art competition to recognize the immense talent of so many young people across Southeast Michigan, and every year their creativity and eye for art brings tremendous pride to our entire community,” said Rep. Trott. “Showing Nathan his magnificent artwork and being able to see him in his element – photographing the U.S. Capitol – was such a joy. His impressive talent is reflective of the great promise of so many young artists in our community.”
As Best in Show, Nathan Adkins’ winning artwork, entitled “Split”, is now displayed in the U.S. Capitol building in Washington, D.C. Adkins and a guest were flown to the nation’s capital to be recognized for his accomplishment and have the opportunity to see his artwork displayed.
Winners were selected by a panel of experts, including local art gallery owners and local art professionals.
