Rep. Trott Stands Against Obama’s Iran Nuclear Deal
WASHINGTON, DC: U.S. Representative Dave Trott (MI-11) today voted against the Obama Administration’s nuclear deal with Iran.
“The Obama nuclear deal with Iran was badly negotiated from the beginning and will prove to be a historic mistake. Instead of demanding the release of the four Americans being held in Iran and calling for a complete dismantling of its nuclear program, President Obama has signed us up for an agreement which gives Iran billions of dollars in support and leaves the rogue nation one step away from an atomic arsenal. The Administration has chosen to strike a dangerous deal with a regime which routinely calls for the death of America and the destruction of Israel. I was in business for thirty years before I got here, and the one thing I knew is that you can’t do a good deal with a bad guy. America should not do this deal with Iran,” said Rep. Trott, Michigan’s only member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs.
The Obama Administration’s nuclear agreement was voted down in the U.S. House of Representatives by a bipartisan vote of 269 to 162.
“America deserves a better deal. And a better deal looks like this: Iran must release the four Americans being held captive there, no ‘sunset clause’ to let Iran build atomic bombs, and ‘anytime, anywhere’ inspections like we were promised. And if these conditions are not acceptable to Iran, then the United States must use all of its economic might to put tough inspections back in place. America does not have to accept a future where Iran threatens our nation and our allies with atomic bombs. We don’t have to do this dangerous deal,” added Rep. Trott.
Since coming to Congress, Rep. Trott has been Michigan’s leading voice in Congress opposing the Obama Administration’s nuclear agreement with Iran and he has consistently warned that this agreement will pave the way for the Iranian regime to develop atomic weapons.
