Rep. Dave Trott Joins Presidential Delegation to Armenia

WASHINGTON, DC:  U.S. Representative Dave Trott (MI-11) today announced he will be part of the Presidential delegation visit to Armenia to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide of 1915 on Friday, April 24, 2015. 

“It is humbling to be part of this important remembrance of the Armenian Genocide.  Representing such a vibrant community of Armenians in Southeast Michigan, I believe this commemoration is a sad but significant tribute to the millions of lives lost a century ago.  We stand with the Armenian people and we will never forget this tragedy.  I urge all of my colleagues and the Obama Administration to join us in solemnly remembering the genocide of 1915,”said Rep. Trott, Michigan’s only member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs.

Historians believe as many as 1.5 million Armenians were killed by Ottoman Turks in 1915. Since coming to Congress, Rep. Trott has been outspoken in his support for the federal government and the Obama Administration to recognize the 1915 killings as a genocide.
