The Second Amendment is a cornerstone of American liberty. The right to keep and bear arms is a freedom that must be defended and protected. That’s why Rep. Trott is committed to ensuring that Washington politicians never infringe on the cherished gun rights of the many law-abiding firearm owners in Southeast Michigan.
Rep. Trott believes that it is important to prevent violence in our society, but that should not mean taking firearms out of the hands of law-abiding gun owners. More laws from Washington will not fix the problem, and will only serve to punish the many citizens in Southeast Michigan who lawfully use their firearms for personal protection, sport shooting, and hunting.
Rep. Trott joined a bipartisan effort to stand up to the Obama Administration’s attempt to limit popular types of ammunition and restrict our Second Amendment rights. After pressure from Congress and America’s gun owners, the Obama Administration decided to scrap their new ammunition restrictions.
But our Constitutional rights will only remain protected by continued vigilance and determination. Rep. Trott will never stop fighting to ensure the voices of Southeast Michigan’s gun owners are heard in Congress.
